Glances with Wolves

Location: Columbia, New Jersey, near the Delaware Water Gap
Carpool departure: 8:30 am-Lansdale turnpike interchange
Included: A 90 minute observation of Arctic, Timber (gray), and Tundra wolf packs in a natural setting. You'll also learn the social structure of wolves, eating habits, their interaction with man, and their true behavior. You'll probably even hear them howl! You'll also be able to photograph & learn about bobcats & foxes at the preserve.

**At this time of year they'll have their magnificent full winter coats, and with fewer leaves on the trees, the lighting will be just right for photos.

Mount Minsi Hike

Location: Pennsylvania side of the Delaware Water Gap
Carpool departures: 10:30 am - King of Prussia, 11 am - near the Lansdale turnpike interchange (unless meeting earlier for the "Glances with Wolves")
Included: A guided moderate (a short portion difficult) 5 mile hike with great views of the Delaware River below and Mt Tammany, pictured above, across the River. Foliage could be at peak!
Price: DD members....$1, others....$5 upon arrival.

Evansburg Hike
Date: Sunday, November 9
Time: Noon
Location: near Collegeville, Pa
Carpool departure: 11:30 - King of Prussia....or meet at the Park.
Included: An easy guided 5 mile hike, followed by a meal indoors nearby.
Price: DD members....$7, others....$12 by Friday, November 7....Add $5 after.
Wine Tasting
Date: Saturday, November 15
Time: 6-10 pm
Location: Collegeville, Pa
Included: An informal, yet informative tasting of fine Chilean reds & whites, and a delicious buffet.
Price: DD members....$25, others....$30 by Thursday, November 13....Add $5 after.

Lehigh Gap Hike
Date: Sunday, November16
Location: Palmerton, Pa
Carpool departures: 8:30 am-King of Prussia, 9:00 am-near Lansdale turnpike interchange
Included: A guided difficult & strenuous 9 mile loop, integrating 2 separate hikes, 2 steep elevation gains, some scrambling, and awesome views. Hike was cancelled last time.
Please note: Only experienced hikers who are capable of steep ascents should attend!

Blue Marsh Hike
Date: Saturday, November 22
Carpool departure: 10 am - King of Prussia
Destination: near Reading, Pa
Included: A moderate 5 mile guided hike, with views of Blue Marsh Lake.
Price: DD members....$1, others....$5 upon arrival.
To reserve: Via phone or email by 7 pm Thursday.

Option: Visit a nearby pub & deli after the Hike.
Dogs on leashes are welcome, but not in the restaurant.
Philly Zoo Day
Date: Saturday, December 6
Carpool departure: 9 am - King of Prussia....or meet at the Zoo at 9:30.
Included: Zoo admission and a full day, 9:30-4:00 (optional) to enjoy and photograph the wildlife.
Many of the animals are more active this time of year, especially in the morning, and the big cats will have their full winter coats. These can be seen at the new Big Cat Falls habitat.
Price: DD members....$15, others....$20 by Thursday, December 4....Add $5 after.
Children are welcome at $13 each!

Lapland Lake XC Skiing
Dates: January 23-25
Location: New York's Adirondack Preserve, a superior beginner-advanced XC ski
trail system.
Accommodation: A grand Bed & Breakfast in
Northville....minutes from the trails.
Included: Carpool arrangements, two nights (2 per room), two full hot
breakfasts, full course dinner Saturday.
